The CARES Clinic is a medical student-initiated and managed non-profit organization providing free medical care to underserved, uninsured population in the local Charleston area. The CARES Clinic opened its doors in 2005, providing free primary care to individuals without insurance.
Our hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30. We operate on a first come, first served basis so try to be at the clinic by 6:00 pm to ensure you get a spot. Because we are student-run, we are limited to just 10 patients each evening.
While we do not accept appointments for primary care, we do accept appointment for physical therapy, psychiatry, and women’s services. Speak to the office manager to make an appointment.
The CARES Clinic operates in conjunction with East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO), which is an organization established to help folks in the community find needed resources. The CARES Clinic serves as ECCO’s medical arm.
